In this screen shot of outnumbered I will be analysing the mise en scene .

In the background of the screenshot there is a lot of mess, children’s drawings and what looks like a well lived in home. This not only suggests that the woman at the sink has children, but that they are a big part of her life and she is therefore ‘Outnumbered’.

 The kitchen is very messy with no surface free from clutter; her clothes are very casual, emphasising that she spends more time looking after the kids, than looking after herself.

The prevailing colour in this screen shot is beige, this colour suggests that family life can be dull at times yet the colourful input of children’s toys and drawings brings both entertainment and madness.

The housewife at the sink making tea can be seen as modern life pigeon holing parents into stereotypes we have long since broken away from.
