Prime evil-Analysis of Gender.

Prime evil-Analysis of Gender.
The first shot is of a man and a women arguing, the woman wearing pink displaying her feminine side and the man wearing a pale blue shirt with buttons undone suggesting that he is laid back about the situation.
It then cuts to a scene with a woman in a tractor digging dirt, something that we would normally associate with a man doing. She has a short hair cut and has an overall ‘tomboy’ look about her; on the other hand her short hair is bleach blonde shows her femininity. The scene quickly changed from calm to hectic in a matter of seconds when the Sabertooth appeared, the music changed to a fast moving pace and digetic sounds of the tractor got louder. It then cuts to the man running away and the lady in the tractor trying to fight off the Sabertooth, the roles have been switched as you would normally see the man fighting off the monster while the woman runs to safety this is highlighting the woman’s masculine side showing that she is not afraid of the monster and is able to fight it off herself.
‘Savaged, virtually cut in half’ this is what the man said while approaching his group of friends instead of the woman being shocked by this statement she shows no fear and responds with ‘how longs he been here’. In the group of people there is a man dressed in a pick shirt and a pink scarf in comparison to the woman wearing all black and a leather jacket suggesting that he is more in touch with his feminine side than she is. Secondly, another member of that group is a man smaller than most of the others is wearing a suit this shows authority over the rest even though he is smaller because they are all seen to be wearing casual clothes. Also the camera pans and stays on him for a short while when he is speaking and then cuts to the expression and shock on the others faces to what he is saying, again showing his authority.
After that it cuts to a scene with Mr West and another lady, for the first part of the conversation she is the dominant speaker and is threatening him. He is defenceless and has no power over her which stereotypically is wrong as the man should have more power over the woman. The whole situation turns around on Mr West being the more dominant one in the conversation when he picks up his gun, this emphasises his manliness something that he did not previously have when the woman was threatening him. The music becomes more serious and the woman falls is pushed to the ground by Mr West illustrating that he now has power over the situation.. The camera angles highlight the man being more powerful over the woman as the camera looks down on the woman and up at Mr West.
The other three actors walk into the barn while Mr West is slowing putting the gun to the woman’s head highlighting he is still in charge of the situation, that is quickly changed when the three actors walk in 2 with guns aiming them both at Mr West this takes away his power and he is now back to being threatened and helpless like a little girl. The woman gets up and acts like she has got back her power over the man moans about her being pushed into the hay and struts off showing her femininity by worrying about her clothes, the only real feminine woman we see in this whole clip. Finally, at the end of the clip after the woman walks out the man left there looking confused and powerless being questioned about something he knows nothing about.
